Japanese Translation: Expectations
Since Japanese is written in completely different scripts than that of European languages such as English, translated documents with images may take on a slightly different format than the source document. When possible, our professional document translators and project managers will maintain images in their proper spots. When a formatting problem is foreseen, our project managers will work with you to find an acceptable format for your translated document.
Japanese is written in a complex set of three separate scripts. Kanji, which is a modified version of Chinese script, is a symbolic script with no phonetic meaning. Hiragana and Katakana are syllabic scripts made of modified Chinese characters. Additionally, Romanji, which mirrors the sounds of the Latin alphabet, is used for logos, business names and data entry. Each of these scripts has its place in document translation. Don’t worry, our expert project managers and professional Japanese translators will take care of the details for you.
